Apple Health Integration: How Patient Syncing Works
Last updated: September 11, 2026
Osmind integrates with Apple Health, allowing patients to sync their Apple Health data into their Osmind account. This gives you visibility into patient-reported health metrics — like heart rate, weight, steps, and sleep — without the patient needing to log them manually.
Enabling or Disabling the Integration
You control whether patients can connect Apple Health, at three levels:
Global (all patients in your organization)
Group
Individual patient
To turn it off, go to Settings and disable "Apple Health." If disabled at a given level, patients in that scope won't see the option to connect Apple Health when they navigate to Integrations in their app.
Enabling Specific Metrics for a Patient
Even when Apple Health is enabled, you control which metrics actually sync for each patient:
Navigate to the patient's profile.
Click Actions, then select the Settings tab.
Under the Metrics box, select or deselect the metrics you want tracked (e.g., Weight, Heart Rate, Steps).
If a metric isn't selected here, it won't sync from Apple Health even if the patient has linked their account.
What the Patient Experience Looks Like
If a patient asks how to connect Apple Health, or if you're walking one through it on a call, here's what they'll do:
Log into the Osmind Mobile App.
Navigate to Settings > Integrations and tap Apple Health, then Connect.
They'll see a list of categories to sync — toggling a category green means it will sync, or they can tap "Turn All Categories ON."
They tap "Allow" in the top right to authorize the connection.
Back on the Integrations page, they'll see a "Connected" status once it's linked.
If a patient previously tapped "Don't Allow," they'll need to go to iPhone Settings > Health > Data Access & Devices > Osmind, and select which fields Osmind can read. Until they do this, they may see "Connected" in the app without any data actually syncing.
Troubleshooting Patient Sync Issues
If a patient reports that Apple Health is connected but data isn't appearing:
Confirm their Integrations page shows "Synced," not just "Connected." If it only shows "Connected," they likely need to complete the iOS permissions step above.
The Osmind app must be open periodically for data to sync — it won't sync in the background indefinitely.
Double-check that the specific metric is enabled for that patient under their Settings > Metrics (see above) — this is a common cause of "it's connected but nothing's showing up."
Notes
Sync is one-directional: Apple Health data flows into Osmind, but data entered directly in Osmind does not push back to Apple Health.
Apple Health can be enabled in Staging when testing with a test patient account linked to a wearable device.
