Getting Started: Video Calls
Last updated: August 7, 2026
Osmind's video call capabilities bring HIPAA-compliant telehealth to your practice, for both one-on-one and group calls.
Built-in telehealth is available to all members for 1:1 virtual sessions.
Osmind also offers a direct integration with Zoom for Healthcare, allowing providers to offer group video calls, virtual support groups, webinars, and internal team meetings.
Osmind Video Calls (Built-in Telehealth)
Available on web and mobile, with no local installation required on web. Built for individual (1:1) video calls, not group sessions. You can take private charting notes on the same screen during a patient session.
Osmind Video Calls is included on all membership plans.
Varying screen sizes are available when launching an Osmind Video Call session from the web browser — you can adjust the video screen to mini, full screen, or stacked view, based on your preference during the call. This makes it easier to chart during a video session.
Integration with HIPAA-Compliant Zoom
Outside of Osmind's built-in telehealth feature, Osmind also offers a direct integration with HIPAA-compliant Zoom for individual or group sessions, and webinars.
Booking a Zoom appointment through Osmind's calendar automatically generates a secure call link for patient (and internal) sessions.
This integration is active by default for your account — you don't need a personal Zoom account or subscription, and no action is needed to enable it. Basic Zoom features like chat, screen sharing, and session recording are automatically available during your sessions, with the option to enable additional Zoom features for your account.
Automated Workflows for Video Calls
Osmind allows you to set up several workflows to automate your process — saving time and helping reduce no-shows or late cancellations for virtual sessions.
Automatic appointment confirmation emails are sent to patients, including a link to join their video call session
Email and/or SMS appointment reminders can be enabled at your preferred frequency
Tie an intake flow, or specific form, to an appointment booking for patients to complete electronically
Adjust your notifications for when appointments are booked by patients
Enable Online Appointment Booking for Patients
You may want to offer virtual services for patients to book on their own. This can be done by editing the settings of your Appointment Type(s).
If online booking is enabled for an appointment, patients can self-book in a few ways:
Share your calendar link with new or prospective patients
When you share your calendar link, patients will see any appointments you've enabled for booking. They can select the date/time they're interested in. For a webinar or group session, they'll only see the specific date/time you've indicated.
If they're a new patient, they'll be prompted to enter their information, including name and email address — an ideal way to have patients join a free event like a webinar. Existing patients can also book an appointment and be charged via card on file post-session, sent an invoice, or have a CMS 1500 insurance claim created.
Share a patient package with your video call service
If you'd rather patients pay upfront, you can create a self-pay patient package and get a sharing link. This link can be used to market your service on your website, in an email, in a message, and more. When a patient clicks the package link, they'll be prompted for their information and payment details, and can select their appointment date and time.
You'll receive a notification when a patient purchases a package and books an appointment.
Your Patient's Video Call Experience
When a patient (or you) books a video call appointment, they'll automatically receive a confirmation email and an appointment reminder.
With an Osmind video call session, patients don't need to download any additional apps or plugins. They can launch their video call from the web browser or mobile app, as long as they're logged into their Osmind Patient Portal. Most patients prefer using the Osmind mobile app to launch their video calls — when logged in, they'll see their "Next Appointment" clearly displayed, along with a link to "Join Call."
Alternatively, if a patient logs into their portal 10 minutes before the appointment, a blue bar will appear inviting them to join directly from that link.
If patients want to join more than 10 minutes in advance, they can join from the dashboard as described above, or click the "Appointments" tab on the left-hand menu and click "Join Call" on the desired appointment.
